Westbrook Volunteer Fire Department


Mission Statement

The Westbrook Chemical Engine Company #1 provides life safety, fire protection and emergency services to the residents and visitors to the town of Westbrook. We provide and accept mutual aid for our surrounding towns in lower Middlesex County.

Our Fire Prevention Program’s goal is to protect lives and property through the continuing education of our children, adults, and elderly residents and to expand our student basis through events and programs outside Town limits.

The Fire Department is 100% volunteer.


The Fire Department is the R1 (First Responder) for all emergencies in the Town of Westbrook, based upon procedures and protocols with have provided to the Valley Shore 9-1-1 Dispatch Center. The Valley Shore Dispatch Center is a regional dispatch center processing emergency calls and dispatching services 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Office of Emergency  Management 

Emergency Management develops and maintains comprehensive plans to prepare for, respond to, and recover from all types of disasters that might occur in the town of Westbrook. This is accomplished by working with various town departments, volunteer groups and regional partners throughout the year.
