In June, 2022 the Westbrook Planning Commission created the Plan of Conservation and Development Implementation Committee for the purposes of coordinating the implementation of the recommendations from the 2021 Plan of Conservation and Development. Members of various Town Boards, Commissions and staff were recruited to assist with this effort. The Committee meets quarterly to report on implementation progress. The POCD identifies the leaders and partnering Boards, Commission and Departments responsible for implementing the policies and action items contained in the Plan. The Committee members have been assigned with the responsibility to reach out to these specific partners to monitor and report on the level of progress on these tasks. The Committee has created a spreadsheet of the prioritized list of key initiatives for the community that they will use as the guide for this effort.
The meetings are open to the public.

The current Plan was adopted by the Planning Commission on June 8, 2021 and became effective on June 30, 2021. An update of the Plan is now required every ten years in order for the Town to be eligible for discretionary state funding. The new Plan establishes a common vision for the future of Westbrook and recommend policies that will help attain that vision.
