Special Town Meeting

LEGAL NOTICE

TOWN OF WESTBROOK

 

The legal voters of the Town of Westbrook, Connecticut and all others qualified to vote in meetings of said Town are hereby notified and warned that a Special Town Meeting will be held in the Multi Purpose Room of the Teresa Mulvey Municipal Center, 866 Boston Post Road, Westbrook, CT on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. to consider and act on the following resolutions:

 

Item 1.  To consider and act upon the following, as recommended by the BOS and BOF:

 

RESOLVED:  that the sum of $5,500 is hereby appropriated from Contingency to the Library for the purpose of shelving for audio book materials.

 

Item 2.  To consider and act upon the following resolution, as recommended by the BOS and BOF:

 

RESOLVED:  that the First Selectman is hereby authorized to accept a grant from the CT State Library, Division of Library Development in the amount of $2,000 for Summer Enrichment programs.

 

Item 3.  To consider and act upon the following resolution, as recommended by the BOS and BOF:

 

RESOLVED:  that a sum not to exceed $2,332,143.00 be appropriated from the Unassigned Fund Balance to the Roof Capital Project Fund for the purpose of replacement of the Mulvey Center Roof, HVAC units and the Library Roof.

 

Item 4.  To consider and act upon the following resolution, as recommended by the BOS and BOF:

 

RESOLVED:  that the First Selectman is hereby authorized to accept a grant from the State of Connecticut, Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection in the amount of $5,000 for Covid-19 public health and emergency management activities.

 

Item 5.  To consider and act upon the following resolution, as recommended by the BOS and BOF: 

 

RESOLVED:  that a sum not to exceed $13,955 be appropriated from Contingency to the Fire Department SCBA Replacement Capital account to fund the purchase of SCBA equipment.

 

Item 6.  To consider and act upon the following, as recommended by the BOS and BOF:

 

RESOLVED:  that a sum not to exceed $595,000 be appropriated from the ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) fund to the Fire Department Radio Capital fund for the purchase of radios.

 

Item 7.  To consider and act upon the following resolution, as recommended by the BOS and BOF:

 

RESOLVED:  that the First Selectman is hereby authorized to accept a grant from the Westbrook Foundation in the amount of $10,000 for the purchase of beach accessible wheelchairs and a storage shed.

 

Item 8.  To approve, as a qualifying community program pursuant to the Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit Program, a proposed project to be undertaken by the Westbrook Garden Club as set forth in its NAQA-1 which is on file in the Town Clerk’s office. 

 

Item 9.  To approve, as a qualifying community program pursuant to the Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit Program, a proposed project to be undertaken by the YMCA as set forth in its NAQA-1 which is on file in the Town Clerk’s office.

 

Item 10.  To consider and act upon the following resolution, as recommended by the BOS and BOF:

 

RESOLVED:  that the First Selectman is hereby authorized to accept a grant from the State of Connecticut, Department of Housing (Small Cities Grant) in the amount of $1,500,000 for the Worthington Manor Public Housing Modernization project.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that on the 12th day of May 2022, I posted a written copy of the attached warning and notice of a Town Meeting upon all the sign posts of the Town of Westbrook and all other places designated by the Town.

 

I HEREBY CERTIFY that on the 12th day of May, 2022, I caused the attached warning and notice of a Town Meeting of the Town of Westbrook to be filed with Joan Angelini, its Town Clerk.

 

I FURTHER CERTIFY that on the 12th day of May, 2022, I caused a copy of said warning and notice to be published in the Harbor News having circulation within the Town of Westbrook.

 

I FURTHER CERTIFY that all of the above acts were done by me at least five days before the holding of said meeting on May 19, 2022
